Frequently Asked Questions

How can I reach Personal Optical and what area do you service?

Call us at (905) 227-9937. You can also e-mail us by clicking here. We service the Niagara region, from Fort Erie to Burlington.

Do you do eye exams?

Personal Optical does not perform eye exams as we are the pharmacists of eyecare. We fill your prescription. We can obtain a copy of your prescription from your Dr. You can book an exam with the optometrist next door to our Boutique by calling (905) 684-5544.

Are there any service charges to have Personal Optical stop by my home or office?

There are no hidden fees or service charges. You are paying for your eyeglasses only. You will find that our lenses and frames are very competitively priced in addition to saving your gas money.

Can you process insurance claims?

Yes, we can. However, we have the same restrictions as all Optical stores have. Some insurance companies do not allow Optical stores to claim directly to them. It varies with each insurance policies.

Could I order my glasses while at work and have them delivered to my home?

Yes and at no charge! We are flexible. You tell us where and we will be there.

What happens if I cannot find eyewear that I am looking for during your visit?

That's OK! We want you to select the right eyewear for your personal style and needs. We are glad that you considered us. We hope that you will contact us in the future.

Do you do eye exams?

Not at this time. It is not considered legal practice for an Ontario Optician to perform eye exams. We will contact your eye physician or optical shop in order to obtain the most recent prescription, or we can duplicate the prescription in your current eyeglasses. If you prefer, you can ask your optometrist to fax us the prescription. Don't forget, legally, it is your right to have a copy of your prescription.

My current glasses need repairs or adjustments but I did not buy them from Personal Optical. Can you still help me?

Of course! Our fees are very reasonable. We are only a phone call away to help you with your optical needs.

I just had my eye exam, but I do not have my prescription. How can I get my glasses from Personal Optical?

Call your doctor and ask for a copy! The prescription release rule mandates the release of the prescription to the patient and prohibits disclaimers or extra fees for the prescription. Then it is up to you to decide who you would like to fill your prescription. If you would like, Personal Optical can call your doctor and request a copy of your prescription for you!
